Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (PBOA) decided to call off the private bus
strike that was to be launched at midnight today.

Chairman of the Association, Gemunu Wijeyratne noted that the decision to call off the strike was made
after the discussion held with the Minister of Public Transport.

PBOA Chairman said that the Ministry of Private Transport Services made a written promise to increase bus fares comparative to the increase in diesel prices. 

Meanwhile, the Minister of Private Transport Services, had stated at the discussions that a months’ time is needed to make a decision regarding amending the bus fares.

Chairman of the National Transport Commission Shashi Welgama said that the Bus Associations had agreed to this move.

අද මධ්‍යම රාත්‍රියේ සිට බස් වර්ජනය කිරීමට පෞද්ගලික බස්  හිමියන්ගේ සංගමය තීරණය කලේ ඔවුනට ඉන්ධන සහනාධාරයක් ලබා ගැනීමට කල ඉල්ලීම ප්‍රතික්ෂේප වීම නිසා වෙනි,  නමුත් එය අතහැර දැමූ බව පෞද්ගලික බස්  හිමියන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපතිවරයා පවසයි.

එසේ අතහැර දැමූවේ පෞද්ගලික ප්‍රවාහන අමාත්‍යංශය හා පෞද්ගලික බස්  හිමියන්ගේ සංගමය අතර ලිඛිත  එකගතාවකින් පසුව බව පෞද්ගලික බස්  හිමියන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපතිවරයා පැවසූවේය.

එම එකඟතාවයේදී බස් ගාස්තු සංශෝදනය සඳහා මාසයක කාලයක් අවශ්‍ය බවට පෞද්ගලික ප්‍රවාහන සේවා අමාත්‍යවරයා ප්‍රකාශ කර ඇති අතර එම කොන්දේසියටද බස් සංගම් එකඟ වූ බව ජාතික ප්‍රවාහන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ සභාපති ශෂී වෙල්ගම පැවසීය.

Sri Lankans are dealing with the disappointment of losing the vote to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games, amid concerns it is a lost chance to develop sport in the island nation.

The southern city of Hambantota was defeated by Australia's Gold Coast in Friday's polling, with members of the Commonwealth Games Federation on Friday voting 43-27 in Australia's favor.

Australia has hosted the games four times previously while Sri Lanka was
bidding to host the games for the first time.

Sunil Gunawardena, a veteran athlete and coach, said hosting would have given Sri Lanka a chance to "turn a new leaf in the country's sports history."

Sugath Thilakaratne, an athlete who a bronze medal in 1998 games, agreed it is a lost chance to boost Sri Lankan sports.

2018 දී පැවත්වීමට නියමිත පොදු රාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩලීය ක්‍රීඩා උළෙල ලංකාවේ හම්බන්තොට පැවත්වීම සඳහා දැඩි උත්සාහයක යෙදුනු වත්මන් රජයේ සිහිනය බොඳවී ගියේ වැඩි ඡන්ද 36 කින් ඔස්ට්‍රේලියාවට එම අවස්ථාව උදාවීම නිසාය.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ඡන්ද 27 ක්ද, ඔස්ට්‍රේලියාවට ඡන්ද 43 ක්ද ලැබුනා.

මෙම අවස්ථාව ලබාගෙනීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජය අති විශාල වියදමක්ද දැරීය.

"Sri lanka 's Police department was politicalized, there is no respect between the police and the public. police attacks people and people attacks police. then police fights with police.. not only that, politicians fights with politicians, politicians carrying out shooting against each other.

At present police fail to establish law and order in the country.

Some people and politicians have taken the law into their own hands."
